Mannek interrogates the duality of Black womanhood as both vibrant subject and ornamental object , celebrated for its aesthetic resonance yet often estranged from its own humanity. The work explores how visibility becomes paradoxical, to be endlessly observed but rarely seen.
Through the fusion of London’s urban grit with the boundless landscape of Black imagination, Mannek reclaims the gaze, constructing a space where fantasy and reality intersect.
